Battle of the Blogger Butts Week 8

Has it really been 8 weeks since Naomi and I started this thing? I can't really believe it has been that long.

In the beginning I thought it would be super easy to lose 5 % of my body weight - in fact I had planned to lose a little more, just because "I could".

I have actually found it quite difficult...I haven't been able to keep that motivation high because I feel really tired all the time so I don't make time for exercise.

I know I could melt away the weight if I exercised "more" and I feel at times I am sabotaging myself...

I'm not even sure I'm going to fit into my new "ish" jeans, which frankly irritates me.

Egads, it's only 3 weeks until the conference!

So it's time to focus, focus, find some motivation for the home stretch.

But don't worry, we'll keep this thing going because you guys motivate and inspire me...

My weight loss is as follows:-

Start 70.5 kg
Week 1 69.7 kg
Week 2 69.9 kg
Week 3 69.3 kg
Week 4 69.9 kg
Week 5 70.3 kg
Week 6 70.1 kg
Week 7 68.7 kg
Week 8 68.6 kg
So how was your week....

They love each other, they really do

My 3 kids have just discovered three way interaction on their Nintendo DSi's so they can insult each other in silence.

"You're a poo head"....

They also race on Super Mario Brothers without leaving their beds which is not as fun as the above.

Battle of the Blogger Butts Week 7

Another week gone. These Saturdays seem to come around very quickly.

I just wanted to firstly say that I am so grateful to you guys who have participated each week in our challenge.

Naomi and I appreciate the support and motivation that you have given us. Without you, this challenge wouldn't happen.

Naomi and I have decided to keep the challenge going after the Aussie Mummy Bloggers Conference. The initial plan was to lose 5% of our body weight before the conference.

I will continue to host the blog hop each Saturday and I would love you guys to keep posting, keep participating and keep the motivation high. It's not only about weight loss, it's about doing something for ourselves, motivating others and being aware.

We don't know what the challenge will morph into, but at least we can post each week and support and connect with each other.

If you guys have any ideas please let us know. After all, it is your challenge!

Here is my weight loss for the week. I just know I can fast track it by eating better and actually getting out and exercising. It's the same old story for me - too tired, not enough hours in the day, so busy with the kids.

One day I'll stop making excuses and just do it.

Start 70.5 kg
Week 1 69.7 kg
Week 2 69.9 kg
Week 3 69.3 kg
Week 4 69.9 kg
Week 5 70.3 kg
Week 6 70.1 kg
Week 7 68.7 kg

I'm surprised and happy with my result this week. A loss of 1.4 kg.

If I can keep up this pace (and I'm being completely sarcastic here), I should get to my 5% loss I need before the conference.

My goal is 66.9 kg.

Farmers Wifey gets around

I'm really chuffed to have been featured in a couple of cool places recently.

I had the pleasure of sharing some tips about travelling with kids in this article from the AnyTrip Blog.

I'm also hanging around on Blog This where I was featured in Blogs of Interest - Country Roads, which is a shout out to us country mums.

Blog This is awesome with lots of articles, bloggy challenges and guest posts.

You can also find me at our Blog Carnival for the month of February, courtesy of Aussie Mummy Bloggers. There are so many amazing bloggers featured and I am so pleased to be included.

Happy Valentine's Day Sexy

Happy Valentine's Day beautiful people!! I was most impressed with my favourite perfume from The Hubbster..it's just divine!

I popped a little red foil chocolate heart in the kids lunchboxes today just to let them know that I love them....we all love Valentine's Day in our family.

I placed a little gift and a big red foil chocolate heart on top of The Hubbsters lunch box where he would find it early in the morning on his way to work.

And now it's time to do something for me. I am so excited to be linking up today with The Mommyologist's Mom Sexy Valentine's Day Bash.

It's a chance for me to write about why I love myself and why I'm a Sexy Mom (or Mum for my aussie readers!)

Here are some things that I love and appreciate about myself:-

1. I am an awesome mother. Yes I am. Even sometimes when I don't feel so organised, I know that I love my children, they are safe and happy and.....they love and adore me.

2. I have the best feet and ankles. Actually I really love my legs. Alot of the time I think about the things I would love to change about my body, but I am happy with my feet.

3. I love my ankle tattoo. It's sexy and hip. It's a pretty flowers and vine design and I can't wait to get another one.

4. I make the best lasagne and it tastes even better heated up the next day. Today I ate some for lunch.

5. I'm really good at my job. I make people happy and I help them. I'm very courteous and professional. Or so I'm told.

It's actually quite difficult writing things about me that I love, instead of things I want to change.

6. I have a great sense of humour. I have a dry wit. I do sarcasm very well.

7. I can dance. Oh yes I really can. I represented my State in Ballroom and Latin dancing and even now I can still dance.

8. I'm a really good friend. And a great wife. The Hubbster tells me so.

9. I'm a strong, confident, brave woman. I have travelled to America by myself. I've bungee jumped. I go on all the super fast rollercoasters. I've held a snake. I've tasted crocodile. I've raced go karts and won. I'm not afraid to try something.

10. I'm a miscarriage survivor and I'm strong enough to share my experiences with others who are hurting. I got through it. I got through it six times.....

Battle of the Blogger Butts Week 6

I've had another busy week...not enough time in my day to get everything done.

I suppose that's what it means to be a mother.

I'm really tired at the moment and because I work part time, I'm coming home and going to bed really late because I just need some time to chill on the sofa.

Bedtime calls me but I just don't go. I have to change that.

I've also fallen back into my bad habit of snacking after tea..I don't need it but it's almost like I have to do something with my hands.

Maybe instead of eating naughty treats, I could do the ironing (see recent post).

My back is okay, if I bend the wrong way or twist when I shouldn't, it tells me to stretch and wake up to myself. I still haven't been to pilates....it's a time issue again. On my two days off a week, I have so much to do that I just can't drive into town and "waste" half the day....

And that is my problem. I need to make time for exercise. I'm so tired in the mornings, I can't get out of bed early enough for a walk.

I have so many things I have to change. I can see it clearly.

My weight loss table is like this:-

Start 70.5 kg
Week 1 69.7 kg
Week 2 69.9 kg
Week 3 69.3 kg
Week 4 69.9 kg
Week 5 70.3 kg
Week 6 70.1 kg

Not enough change....

The thing that has kept me going, is the motivation, support and encouragement from you..my fellow blogger butt battlers..

This week I am going to stop eating after dinner and just be satisfied with a cup of tea.

I am going to drink alot more water. Something that I have to force myself to do.

I completely believe that my weight loss will be slow and steady. I don't care if I lose only 500 grams or a kilo a week. As long as it's consistent.

Don't forget to leave me a comment with your link and I will be sure to visit and link up as we can't use McLinky this week!

Until next week xox

Just Random

Bringing you all that is swirling around in my head today. And I don't actually live in a circus..it's all true..

Today I bought the kids new brightly coloured lunchboxes so I can trick them into eating their lunch....the cretins bring at least one thing home per day uneaten and it's driving me nuts!

Miss D (aged 10) isn't so bad but the other two come home starving then raid the fridge, snacking until dinner time when they inform me that they are "just not hungry"....

Tommorrow we are going basic until we have three empty lunchboxes..then the snacks will go back in....

I had a conversation today which gave me the idea of what I want for Valentines Day. And if that fails, I want it for our Wedding Anniversary.

As I have run out of my favourite perfume Joop, (the mans Joop is the one I adore), I decided to wear another fragrance today and it went a little like this):

The Hubbster walks into the computer room in which I sat:-

Him "What's that smell? I can smell fly spray".

He swears that he said this and not "You smell like fly spray".

FW "I'm wearing another perfume today".

Him "You smell like Mortein".

FW "You know where the chemist is. Joop is on special. Here's the car keys".

My facebook status today.....

Funniest thing I've seen in ages.. The Hubbster getting the wasp nest down off the clothesline first with a big stick and then with some spray hahahahahahaha...Gee he was brave..hehehehe.

I like the Just Out Of Bed Look

I did some ironing the other day.

That statement scares even me.

First of all I had to find the ironing board, which was covered in non ironing related crap in the loungeroom.

The crap consisted of several dvds, in and out of their cases, a block of wood (I have no idea why it was there or its function), a dinner bowl that I absolutely refuse to move as 1) it's not mine and 2) I'm not the house slave, and a pair of muddy work boots size unknown.

After I threw everything on the floor, I proceded to start the ironing which is such an outdated house chore that I can't even remember how to do it.

I know you're saying "oh Farmers Wifey", surely you jest, you DO know how to iron don't you"?

But of course I do, but it's just the mundanity of the task that makes me let it build up until The Hubbster has no tee shirts to wear because they are all in the ironing basket.

Mundanity is a word as I googled it on Free Online Dictionary in case you're wondering....

So after I ironed his 12 shirts! and found enough coathangers to hang them on, there wasn't alot left in the ironing basket which leads me to think that The Hubbster only wears clothes that need to be ironed and the rest of us wear iron free clothes which I love.

Except for Miss T's pleated school skirts which totally suck but I wouldn't let her wear them unironed so I grit my teeth and iron the pleats.

Actually I also iron jeans and my work pants but I don't iron sheets, pillow cases or tea towels and if I ever got to that stage I think I'd rather stick forks in my eyes because then I would know I had too much time on my hands....

I'd rather play Lego with the kids.

Image from Photobucket I'm sure my Ironman obsessed son will appreciate this.

Battle of the Blogger Butts Week 5

My week started on Sunday with excruciating back and pelvic pain. It was an awful day. I was teary and cranky and not very nice to be around.

I then realised that my period was due and in fact it arrived that day...which accounted for my shitty back and pelvic pain that I am accustomed to.

I took a nurofen and the pain subsided.

I had a physio appointment first thing Monday morning where I had some traction which is always fun and some deep tissue massage and went over my stretches and core strengthening exercises with my physio Ben.

My back hasn't been too bad this week..still sore but very tolerable. I've been working alot so I haven't done any other exercise besides driving the kids to their social lives (dancing, birthday parties, school).

I'm not expecting to have lost any weight this week so my weigh in went as follows:-

Start 70.5 kg
Week 1 69.7 kg
Week 2 69.9 kg
Week 3 69.3 kg
Week 4 69.9 kg
Week 5 70.3 kg

Bugger. I've gained 400 grams and I'm not surprised given the amount of pringles chips I've eaten this week.

Time to get serious I think...how did you do this week?

February 3, 2011

Justin Who?

In the words of George Thoroughgood Get a haircut and get a real job......

In our house (shed) we love Justin Bieber.

Apparently.

According to Miss T (aged 5) Justin Bieber is hawt....

She blushes when I mention his name.

She looks at me and squints her eyes and grins and says "Maarmmm...."

She has a poster of him on the wall next to her bed and she giggled when I kissed him goodnight last week...

She says things like:

(as we drive past the skatepark) "mum there's some teenagers. Justin Bieber is probably there"

"Justin Bieber has nice hair."

"Justin Bieber has a nice hat."

"Justin Bieber wears a necklace."

"Baby, baby baby ohhhh".

She knows the words to his songs and dances away as she does in jazz class.

I for one would just like to know what the hell is going on with his hair? And why did I see exact replicas at the mall yesterday??

Here is a picture she drew and look at the similarities with the real thing -

I think she is too young to have a celebrity crush but that's the way the cookie crumbles today I'd assume.

I had several celebrity crushes when I was a tween and a teenager.....I had a wall full of posters and books full of hearts and undying love....my crushes included:-

Adam Ant...oh boy, did I have a thing for him...I still love the music of Adam and the Ants..it takes me back to the good old eighties music, camp and all....

The white stripe still gets me..

David Lee Roth...nom nom nom. Yes I could eat him up. Well I could have in his younger days...I saw him in concert in Canberra and I was so close to him I could have touched him.

I was a mad Van Halen fan.

Mad I tell you..

That lycra. That long blonde hair. Those high kicks. It was the eighties...remember.

Phew...

Thankfully....so far.....there has been no reported fatalities from the Cyclone.

Let's hope it stays that way.

Queenslanders are bred tough.

There's no denying that.

Stay Safe Aussies

Cyclone Yasi is now a deadly, destructive category 5.

It's hard to believe it is coming and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

I am praying for my fellow Australians to stay safe and ride out the storm.

Read here about this event. There is alot of information explaining how powerful this Cyclone will be.

The destructive winds have already begun and it will get worse. I feel for the little children who will be scared in their parents arms in the evacuation centres.

This cyclone is so big and so wide that it covers such a large proportion of Queensland.

There will be a storm surge to consider as well.

Tommorrow morning we will know the devastation. I will bring you what we know then.

February 1, 2011

How much more can we take??

Australia and my beloved state of Queensland has barely recovered from the recent devastating floods.

Look now what we have on our door step...

Oh my God. Cyclone Yasi is bigger than Queensland!

It is said to rival Hurricane Katrina.

Mass evacuations have already begun.

I have family in the area where the Cyclone is expected to hit...I hope they get out without delay.

I feel so scared for Australians in the direct line of the Cyclone. We experienced Cyclone Hamish two years ago and Larry before that, the wind and rain was incredible...and scary.

Even though Cyclone Hamish never made landfall, I can remember tying everything down, taping up windows and feeling quite stressed when it was coming..we were living in our shed and I worried that it would not hold up. We started to pack the car to travel inland but we were spared.

Here is that post.

I know what it is like to know that it is coming..to want to protect your family and your home and your possessions.

It looks like this one will make land fall.

It's a sickly feeling.

I'm not sure how much more we can take.

Stay safe Queenslanders..
