Phantom Snapper

You may remember a previous post , where I shared some photos I found on my IPhone, courtesy of my phantom snapper...Miss T (aged 7).

Well, she's been at it again.

I often find random, crazy snaps on my phone, with great creativity and awesomeness.

Enjoy!

Busy Busy Time

The life of Farmers Wifey is a very busy one at the moment.  I'm like a tree with branches going everywhere and an apple on each one!

I haven't blogged for five days so that makes me a very bad blogger!

Instead this is what I've been doing:-

Miss D (aged 11) has been dancing at the Eisteddfod all week..coming away with a highly commended and a third place.  Farmers Wifey came away with a heavy heart filled with love and pride!

Mr C (aged 9) has now passed the halfway mark on his liquid diet!  His doctor and his dietician have both commented on how mentally strong he is, saying that they are so inspired with his strength and determination!

He will start taking meds soon, something which I'm worried about, as I don't like to give these to him, but I know he needs to have them...

Miss T (aged 9) has now decided that she wants to dance, as she is in love with our new dance teacher Miss Michelle, so I'll have two in tights very soon!

The Money Pit is really taking shape now, with the guys starting to sand the floors today.  They said that by Sunday they will have applied the first coat of polish, which will have me doing the happy dance!

We are so close to moving in, I can hardly believe it.  In fact, I won't believe it until I am sleeping in my new Antique White and Green painted bedroom.

I was thinking today that we really have come full circle - this time four years ago, I was lovingly packing my things away in big plastic boxes, getting ready to move to the farm.  Now only in a matter of weeks, I'll be unpacking them and decorating my beautiful new country home, which I have dreamed about for so long.

I am so excited about Christmas, and I'm already thinking about table decorations, our Christmas tree, and the emotional feelings I know I will have on Christmas Eve after waiting so long for our house to be completed.

It certainly has been a life changing experience, living in our shed, building our house, and coping with the never ending bad camping trip, while keeping our family sanity intact and our beautiful dreams alive.

It can be done.  It's amazing what a person can do with determination and patience.

As much as I can't wait to move into the house, I'll always remember our happy times in the shed.

Where Santa left gifts and the kids rode their bikes through storms.

It will always brings a smile.......

The Countdown is on!

Weeks.  Counting down now, in weeks.  The House is sitting there, just waiting on a family to move in.....

The kids did their house christening wees in the brand new toilets last night.  Then they had the first drink of water from the water filter.

Mr C had a shower in the ensuite and we all marvelled at the fact that our house actually works!

We have lights and water and next week we'll have beautiful polished floors!

The only thing left to do will be the stainless steel wire around the verandah.  Then we will move in.

What!  We will move in...are you serious?

I still remember our first night in the shed, 4 years ago.  27th October 2008.  The kids were so little, and we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

It was such a bittersweet time for me, moving from our comfortable home in the suburbs to a farm, a shed and a totally new life.  Having never lived out of town before, I was scared.  Fearful of the unknown, worried about change.

A treechange.

The country life is in my blood, born from the roots of my mother and my grandmother.  I just....belong here.

I plan to grow old on the verandah of my house, knitting something amazing while my grandchildren play in the fresh air.......nothing would be sweeter.....

Catch Up with Wifey

I have so much going on at the moment, I felt a catch up post was due.

In no particular order ........

-  I am so proud of my son for coping so well with his liquid diet.  As you may know, he has recently been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and his treatment begins with Exclusive Enteral Nutrition for 8 weeks.

He is slowly gaining weight and has colour back in his face!

-  I have just realised how close to Christmas we really are.  Where has the year gone?  The weeks are just flying by...

-  Today marks 100 days until Christmas.

-  I am so totally excited about our first Christmas in our new house!  I am dreaming of table decorations, a beautiful Christmas tree, and lunch on our deck!

-  I'm so ridiculously busy at work, last week I worked over 40 hours, but you know.....I love it!

-  My daughter is dancing next weekend at the Eisteddfod.  She has brand new solo routines and is so happy at her new dance school.

-  It's only a matter of weeks until our house is finished.  I just don't believe it!  Weeks!!  The floors are being sanded and polished this week, and the only major thing left to do will be the stainless steel wire around the verandah.

-  I'm not getting overexcited just yet......oh alright.....I am getting excited!!!!!

House Update

Newsflash!  We officially have power.

Beautiful lights everywhere!  And what a joy it is to walk into The Money Pit and switch on a light without having to run a power cord!

This is seriously one huge milestone!  Imagine, water connected AND power!  Who would have thought!

Next week the hot water service is being installed and the following week the floors will be sanded and polished.  While they "cure" for a week, we hope to install the stainless steel wire along the verandah.

Today we cleaned up inside the house, removing cardboard and plastic and general building debris to get ready for the floors to be done.  I can't wait to see what they look like!

And I have three bathrooms to clean this week, and you know what?  I'm going to enjoy every minute of it!

We are so close, so close to moving into our dream home.

I am so excited, and very proud of what we have achieved.  The long hard years, and yes, they have been very difficult at times, will fade into our memory as we enjoy our new home.

Christmas on the deck!  Yes please!

Kids Running Free!

If you ask any 9 or 10 year old boy where they'd love to be on a sunny Saturday afternoon, there's no doubt they'd say running through the Aussie bush playing Laser Skirmish.

And they take it seriously thank you very much!

Mr C was invited to a birthday party last week, and had the most awesome time.  I loved listening to the kids planning and discussing tactics, and I loved even more the fact they had the chance to run free in the great outdoors!
