Hidden Treasures

Last Tuesday I decided to start unpacking some of my hidden treasures, lovingly wrapped in newspaper and tucked away in big plastic boxes four long years ago.

It was like Christmas all over again! I had forgotten I even had some of these vintage pretties, and I couldn't wait to find new homes for them in our new house!  Of course I took some pics to prove I have excellent taste, but ordinary photography skills.

I use my IPhone for everything but I would really like to improve the images I share on my blog.   Perhaps with better lighting and focus, or maybe just being able to set a scene and be creative.

I suppose I'll need a new camera and possibly some lessons on how to drive it but that's fine, because as you know, I'm going to BlogHer'13 in Chicago and there are some photo and video sessions that I will be sure to attend.

What do YOU use to capture the perfect image on your blog?

Its interesting, if you have a rather cluttered area it can look quite good in a photo if you play with the angles and get relatively close, yet if something is more spaced out (more comfortable in real life) then it can look boring! Try an artistic but cluttered arrangement and play with that and see how you go!

I aim the camera, hope for the best and take the photo, then repeat the process from different angles (and at different times of day if I can), then I choose what I think is the best image. I've been thinking about a photography course too.
Like Annette said, a cluttered area can look good, try different angles there, even low down with the items throwing shadows.
You have such beautiful treasures.

Oh what beautiful treasures you have. I have given most of mine away over the years to save my daughter having to go through everything. I have a very cheap digital camera so am never satisfied with my pics, except those I borrow from Google websites. Thanks for sharing those lovely things with us. :)

That quilt is beautiful, and I love that little butterfly trinket box.

We have a really good camera, but I've taken to using my phone. Of course it's not nearly as good. But it's handy, I have it all of the time and I'm making myself use it. Still capturing memories.

I really ought to get the old camera out and start using it again though. Cost us a bundle, it's such a waste to let it sit there.
