We ate the guinea fowl eggs! and survived

I didn't really want to do it. But why not? I googled it and it's been done before.

What is it you say???? Well it has something to do with these....

Our guineas are laying eggs and I wasn't sure if I wanted to eat these eggs.....I kinda thought it was like eating your own grandchildren..... But then, how different could guinea eggs be from regular chicken eggs.

So we had bacon and eggs for breakfast this morning, and I thought, just do it, be brave, have a go, don't look back yadda yadda yadda.

I fried up 5 chicken eggs and 4 guinea eggs - the shell was alot harder to crack on the guinea eggs, and the yolk is alot smaller, but they held together really well in the pan. And they were DELICIOUS! In fact, we couldn't tell the difference in taste between the chicken and the guinea eggs.

It was all in my mind, the thought of not wanting to eat them. But I have now conquered this fear and will log on to the poultry one and guinea fowl forums to brag about my bravery...

Oh well done! When I was living at home mum used to try and cook us the duck eggs and there was no way I'd eat them (she'd sneak them into cakes and stuff though and I never worked that out LOL). I had the same issue with kangaroo meat/mince. Took me awhile to stop talking myself into feeling ill and I love the stuff now :)

I haven't tried kangaroo meat, but people say it's very lean.. I have though tried crocodile.....

It is very lean and very high in protein. A lot of people don't like the smell, but it tastes good *hehe*. I've never tried crocodile ... not sure I can be that adventurous lol

I haven't tried kangaroo meat or crocodile..... but I have tried octupus. I guess mom bloggers are a strange breed after all lol. Glad to hear that your eggs were yummy!
