This week for Writers Workshop I have chosen prompt 2.....
2.) I was holding on tight but…in the end it didn't matter.
My grip was firm on the steering wheel as I rounded the corner for the millionth time (or so it seemed).
Only the week before I had raced against an all male field, the only female in a group of testosterone filled drivers all competing for that first place.
When I did come first, they came up to me and shook my hand, one of them even hugged me, all in good spirit. They didn't really mind that they had been beaten by (aghast) a girl! They were proud of me and the competition I showed.
And I was proud of me too.
So back to this week. Holding on tight as I drove around the corner at a speed I can't even comprehend. With my butt to the ground I raced.
And collided with another.
Keeping my hands firmly on the steering wheel, I didn't exactly flip but I came close.
Off into the dirt where I came to a sudden stop.
Too scared to look at what was coming.....but the rest of the field missed me.
Thankfully.
All to show for my first official crash was a broken bone in my hand.

Wow... that's pretty hard core! You know... for a farmer's wife and all... ;)
SEriuosly... I agree w/ M.Jay... you got some guts girl!
Wow.. I'm too much of a coward to even contemplate something like that.. That's amazing that you didn't get hit, and I guess a broken hand isn't bad compared to what could have happened.. Stopped in from Mama Kat's.
Wow, you are tough girl. T.O.U.G.H.
Thank God that is all you had to show for your crash! Looks like a ton of fun though!
You've got guts, girl! I won't even break into a jog.
Fantastic post! LOVE your spirit and drive!
Hugs,
Christine
Well done. And Go You! I hope you get to put those boys back in their places ; )
I couldn't do it but it looks really good fun. My sister would get in one of those and hammer it into the ground, she's a bit of a mad woman!
