Babies are on their way!

Warning....guinea fowl baby post to follow. Prepare for possible excitement and cuteness overload.

Of course I write the above knowing full well that some of you don't give a crap about poultry and that's fine but how can you not love babies.....feathered or non feathered...

You see, it's that time of year again. Spring. And living on a farm with 15 guinea fowl does somewhat pave the way for nesting season. Our girls and boys have been acting strange. Stranger than usual actually because they are pretty insane most of the time.

They have been spending alot of their time hanging around the driveway in the long grass. They come back for a drink and a feed then they disappear again.

Yesterday The Hubbster, whilst driving the tractor, came across the nest. A big nest of eggs and 3 guinea guards who started to slink away. Which is a worry because once they are disturbed there is a chance they will not watch the nest and hatch the eggs.

The Hubbster backed up and didn't go near the nest so we are hoping the eggs hatch and the guineas bring the baby's home soon. And if you are a new reader and don't know what the hell I am talking about, here are some babies we hatched before...

Good luck! I'm hoping they hatch them! How long do guinea fowl sit for?

I've got ducklings and chickens due in about 10 days. I'm excited. Baby things make me excited.

The guineas have been acting crazy for about 2 weeks...we are expecting some action within the next two weeks...saying that, it is four weeks of craziness while they hatch! If that makes sense. At least this time they have nested fairly close to the shed, unlike last time when they were half way across 75 acres and we had to catch 18 babies in very long grass...it took us over 2 hours to get them home...
