What a busy, amazing time we have had. So much so, I need to do a huge Christmas, Boxing Day roundup to fill you in......and I'll do it in point form to make it enticingly easy to read!
- After a long busy week at work, I finished my shopping late on Christmas Eve, staying up late to finish wrapping and setting out the presents on behalf of Santa. This year, we left him milk and fruit cake and he left us many crumbs.
- Christmas Day was wonderful..the kids opened their presents in the morning and were so excited. I must say, Santa had exceptional shopping skills this year...
- We enjoyed a lovely hot Christmas lunch at The Hubbsters parents house, and more presents followed. We tamed it down this year and they didn't get along of things, but enough to satisfy and keep them busy. We want the kids to understand that Christmas is not only about gifts but it is a time for family, for togetherness and for giving........
- As we drove home in the afternoon, the creek crossing was coming up, we drove through it okay but we could tell it was rising. The Hubbsters parents managed to come out through the crossing for tea and get back home safely...
- Boxing Day saw us completely flooded in..the crossing was nearly a metre high in water, and it was flowing fast. We were stuck at home all day with the rain.....It's been raining for most of December and the area surrounding our town is in flood.....there is water everywhere.
- The water level at the crossing was up and down most of the day Monday, and today we are stuck at home again..with too much water across for us to get to town. It's sausages, eggs and chips for tea as that's the last of the Christmas shopping!!!!
- As we drove up the driveway on Christmas Day we saw a mumma guinea fowl and her brand new clutch of babies....they disappeared into the long grass..we were very worried that they would die in the rain..so the next day we spent the morning looking for them.
- We found them and walked them up the driveway in the pouring rain to their warm dry cage, where they are now dry and fluffy and happy.
- Today I have a sick guinea, she was on her back in the corner with her legs jerking in the middle of death throes......This is the baby that the mother bird stepped on...she has a sore wing and is very poorly.....I picked her up and wrapped her and dried her with my hairdryer!!! and put her back in the food dish in the cage with the other babies. She is looking better now and managed to get across to sleep under her mummys tummy with the other babies so at least I've given her a chance to survive.
- We are sick of the rain, and being flooded in, the kids are going stir crazy, I've got cabin fever but we had a really good, happy Christmas.
Part 2 of my Christmas Roundup will be posted tommorrow with photos to accompany the above!
Naomi from Seven Cherubs and I have an exciting "thing" happening soon. It's not in the classical way where prizes are awarded, but there will be plenty of healthy competiton. Stay tuned for details because we will both be winners in the end!!!!
And a little gentle reminder if you haven't voted for me yet on Babbles Top 50 Bloggers please do so here as voting is running out and I'm on the home stretch. I'm on page 1 sitting around number 29 at the moment. I'd really appreciate it xx
