Random

I'm really overdue for a random post so sit back and enjoy!

I had a day at home today. I really, really needed this as I've been feeling quite overwhelmed with all that is going on in my life.

Between my work, the kids and their activities, The Money Pit, the farm, my back and discussing paint colours and tile profiles, I'm at the point where I feel very stressed.

I'm being pulled in so many different directions, and I haven't any time just to...be....

Most days my head is swimming with facts and figures, and dates and schedules, and appointments, and usually I can cope very well with my frantic life, but l find myself worrying about things that haven't even happened yet.

It's time to slow down.

Today I took the kids to school and went to my physio appointment. I came home and it was....quiet. The Hubbster was at work so I did the washing, stood in the sunshine, talked to the guinea fowl and just.....exhaled.

I watched the midday movie while tidying the loungeroom, and I can't believe how relaxed and calm I feel.

I really needed today.

Mr C (aged 8) took me on a movie date last Sunday night to watch Real Steel. We sat in the front row and ate popcorn and held hands ♥

We have been living in our shed for exactly 3 years today. Hurrah. Said totally with sarcasm.

***************************************************************************

I think I've accepted the fact that we may not move into the house by Christmas. Time has beaten us.....we've waited this long, another month or two isn't going to matter. Really.

15 years ago, I was in America having the time of my life. I still remember it like it was yesterday......I'd love you to read all about my exploits so feel free to click the category "America"....

Look for "My Roadtrip: An Aussie in America", which is a day by day account of my holiday (strictly for diehards).

Speaking of America, I was in Colorado during the end of October 1996, and spent an amazing Halloween there.

I have a soft spot, therefore for Halloween and every October 31st I "celebrate" by watching one of my favourite movies Trick 'r Treat.

In the dark of course!

I was in Canada one year as a child during Halloween and have loved it ever since. They really know how to trick or treat in Canada and the US dont they.

Colorado is on the list for a trip Im planning...I want to travel the California zephyr and stop over in Colorado. I'll go and read about your trip now x

I'm so glad you took a day to breathe. Sometimes that needs to be done. I find that I'm more productive if I get away from whatever I've been 'grinding at', take a break, and then return to it refreshed and ready to go with new zeal and enthusiasm.
Well... if you don't make it by Christmas, you ought to be darn close. Maybe you could celebrate in the new house even if you aren't living in it! When we were building a house years ago we had my parents over for dinner - the sheetrock had just gone up. We had no kitchen and no bathroom but we brought a card table and chairs. It was a memorable meal!

You're not alone in the appreciating the quite! I have been a bit overwhelmed lately too. I've been absent from the world wide web for a couple of days and when I read to catch up with everyone, it seems I am not alone. xox

Sounds like having a day to yourself is exactly what the doctor ordered! We should all make the time to exhale occasionally.

I am glad you got to slow down, and take a breathe too.

I know living in a shed is hard - it will be disappointing not to be in my Christmas . Your attitude that it's 3 yrs already and another month won't matter will make easier to bear.

A date sounds fabulous !

I'm glad you had that lovely restful day. Sounds like the date with Mr 8 was gorgeous too! Aren't boys beautiful?

I think we should all make a date in our diaries for at least once a month to have a day like that. Your house will be finished before you know it x

Oh those days of downtime are so important. I make a point of scheduling in at least one of those a week. Otherwise life does become a wee bit overwhelming.
That is so cute you had a date night with your little guy, gorgeous :o)

What a great coincidence! I took a breather today too! Managed to catch up with a group of close gfs for coffee, which is always a delight and then off to meet another friend I hadn't caught up for ages with for lunch! LOVE these "breather" days. xx

Sometimes we all need some time to stop and just relax for a while. I hope you are feeling better now! Have a nice weekend!

It is great to be back checking out your blog again. What with continuing problems from a dislocated shoulder and a couple of cataract ops I've not been visiting blogland or even writing my own blog for some time.
It is wonderful that you managed to relax as like's stress can really catch up with you (I know it does with members of my own family) so you must try and do it more often.
It must be trying not getting into the house yet but just imagine when you do how wonderful it will be. I had friends many years ago who did exactly the same (you were allowed to do so in the suburbs way back then (1950s)) and another lived in their back verandah (complete with toilet and bathroom) while the main part of their home was built. Once their homes were complete and they moved in they felt the long wait had been well worth while and I hope you do too.

Hello Mimsie, it's lovely to see you again. I'm sorry you have had some trouble.....I've often read your blog but I have trouble commenting there so I can't leave my thoughts with you...

Just wanted to let you know I do check in and wish you all the best x

So glad you do check in with me occasionally and I wish I knew why you can't leave a comment. There are several blogs I am unable to see and yet am signed in OK and they should be available to me. One lass can read my blog and leave comment but I can't access her blog. I think there are still lots of hiccups to be smoothed out in this blogging world and I wish they'd get on with doing just that. I love my computer but am not a computer fan if that makes sense...too many faults along the way. Will keep in touch. xx
