Okay. I'm putting it out there. On my blog. There's no turning back now.
I'm not fit.
I need to lose weight.
I'm so tired.
My back is sore.
I'm cranky.
I feel unhealthy.
I never used to feel like this. I was a gym junkie before moving to the farm.
That was 4 years ago.
I was fit, strong, so strong, motivated, lean, muscly and happy.
Because I was doing weights, and spinning, on a bike, my back was good.
Now it's not. And that's most of the problem. I've stopped exercising because my back is so sore.
In the words of my specialist :- "That disk is buggered. The one above it looks dodgy as well"........
Awesome.
I'm not supposed to walk uphill, or lean forward or pick up anything heavy. It's not a great position to be in.
BUT I can do something about it and it starts with.....motivation....and willpower....and self control, things I sadly lack.
So this is my plan.
Firstly, I'm going to post this on my blog. So I have no excuses.
And feel free to scold me whenever you want to...
Secondly, I'm going to stop sabotaging myself.
Enough of the "Farmers Wifey, if you give up coke zero you can drink heaps of alcohol", or "Farmers Wifey, if you give up alcohol, you can have several chocolate biscuits a day" or even "Farmers Wifey, if you don't eat junk food all week you can have a binge on the weekend".....
Seriously, there is no way I'll see or feel any different if I play these mind games with myself.
I want to feel like I did before. I want to feel the sweat. I want this:-
So my plan starts tommorrow....a little experiment, if you will.....
I'll weigh myself, and post it here... edit 73.6 kg
For the first week, I'm giving up (oh the humanity) alcohol, soft drink and bread - my three favourite things, and I'm going to eat more protein, more salads and drink more water.
Eat wiser.
I want to see what the difference is..on the scales, and how my clothes are fitting.
Then after the first week, I can find the path I want to go.....
I'm not so worried about exercise at this stage, I want to see how diet plays a part, as the ratio of diet/exercise confuses me.
I want to feel like I did before. And I want to be prepared for this....just in case......

Well done you! This is the first step towards feeling better, fitter and healthier. Good luck love and I'm looking forward to hearing how you're doing.....no pressure :P xx
Yep, the sugar, oh the sugar!! If I cut it for a couple of days I notice a difference and you do feel better and crave it less. I have even taken up running again. This old girl tries for 10kms a day now and miss it if I dont do it. Yep, Just Do It. Good luck.

@ CRAP Mamma, pressure, give me pressure!!! I need the discipline!
@ BushBelles, I know I'll get some dodgy headaches from not drinking soft drink...but I'll purify myself with heaps of water..
I'd love to run again but my back is just not up to it....I've got some ideas and tricks up my sleeve though...xx oh 10 km is amazing..go you x
Well done & good luck!

Thanks Mrs BC xox
Now, that's a plan.
Enjoy feeling fabulous by the end of the week.
And then get addicted to it.
:-)
(Um do as I say, not as I do BTW.)

Oh great advice there, I feel fabulous already !
Good plan so far Michelle. Also, if you don't buy foods that would sabotage your plans, then less likely for you to eat them! ;)
Yes! Yes, no chocolate biscuits in the cupboard now!!! boo hoo!
Good luck!! As Norlin said - don't buy anything you don't want to eat. If it's in the cupboard, I WILL eat it. Your family will just have to get healthy alongside you!
I'm eating a no fat yogurt as I type!!!! xxx
I've never been a gym junkie. I like the idea of going to the gym, but that's as far as it goes. My idea of going to the gym is walking there and continuing on around the block...walking is my thing.
I wish you lots of good luck with your trial, just please be very careful of your back.
P.s. bigger boobs just hang that much lower when you're 80.
Lol. See, why did I never think of that? I just need to be motivated by my fear of zombies. Or, my fear of pictures of the ugly freaking scary things! (UGH - you grossed me out!).
:D
Good for you. Will be here, cheering you on all of the way.
I love that its about regaining your health and fitness, not just dropping dress sizes.
I will be following you and supporting you along the way. Before i fell pregnant, I had lost 14kgs, just eating healthy and doing some walking.
Good luck. xox
The first two weeks are always the hardest, then it becomes a habit and you forget how it used to be and look forward to the salad and the exercise.
I'd love a mobile gym to swing past the farm each morning so I can go to the gym! Sometimes farm life has it's drawbacks!
Well done on making some new good choices. I wouldn't do it all at once - just saying , lower your expectations the first week.
Come and join Thea's group we are very encouraging and supportive -
I am going to gym tomorrow for the first time in 20 months I think. I got a free 10 pass for gym with kids' swimming lessons. So that DID it - can't pass up something for nothing.
Excellent! I guess there's only you who can make these changes. I could do with taking a leaf out of your book myself!

I'm right there with ya girl. I had to laugh at the zombie reference. Here in the states there is a race in which zombies chase you. :)
Aww thanks for the support blogger ladies! I'm doing okay today, starving hungry! but I'm eating good food xx
Oh to be your weight but then I don't know how tall you are!!!
Nearly all the things you said apply to yours truly, plus, plus.
Give up all soft drinks and that type of thing yes and perhaps alcohol or just a sip occasionally. As far as bread is concerned a slice or two a day would be OK. You need to balance protein and carbs very carefully. Low GI food is extremely good but once again it is everything in moderation.
I met a young man at the hospital some years ago. He was diabetic and had lost a toe because of that disease. He told us that he now mainly ate chicken or fish and salad on a daily basis. His blood sugar was now good and his weight too. We try to follow his advice as much as we can but our weight is on the increase because of being on insulin now. There are some battles that are difficult to win.
Sorry I went on a bit there. : )
All the best with your plans and keep us up to date.
Good on you, Michelle. WE can do this! xx
