Embrace The Curls

It was my day off today, so I went to the hairdresser. As you do.

I enjoyed a cup of tea and a biscuit. As you do.

I flicked through fashion magazines wishing I had the style/hair/skin of the models. As you do.

And I walked out of there looking fabulous, as you do!

There is something about visiting the hairdresser that is just so good. A new style, a new colour, the covering of grey hair!

That cup of tea and the biscuit. And it's even better if it's chocolate!

I usually tie my hair back when I'm at work, but today my hairdresser scrunched the birds nest into something resembling a tousled, curly "do".

And I like it!

I'm forever trying to keep a slick and straight style, but my hair has other ideas.

Great. I have stubborn hair!

But today, I had an epiphany! Farmers Wifey, why not work with what you've been given?

Embrace the curls! Love the scrunch. Buy lots of mousse and love the "just out of bed look".

Because it's all I have to work with!!

I have curly hair too and most of the time I comb it out as straight as I can while it's still wet from shampooing. So I get big loopy waves. Now and again I take the time to add a little mousse and do the scrunch thing, then it springs up into that just-permed look.

Curly girls all need to learn to embrace their curl and not to fight it!
I have a great book called Curly Girl, which shows us curly girls how best to care for their curly hair!

How funny you should write a post about hairdressers today! I wrote one too, last night but havent had a chance to publish it yet. Very different to yours, and makes me now feel very strange indeed. But I can see how your trip has made you smile (a beautiful smile at that!)

I've been embracing my curls recently too. Have stopped trying to have it straight, I've decided that that sleek look just isn't *me* and I don't know why I was trying to get it. I feel different when I have my hair straight. When it's curly (but done nicely), I'm more free, bubbly, relaxed. It's an awful lot of over-thinking for me to be doing about my hair, but that's me too. :D

Looks fantastic, TIGI have a great range of products called "curls rock" that make natural curls amazing, well worth the money!!

Totally relate to your post - I also spent today (my day off) at the hairdressers. Felt so good I nearly fell asleep at the basin.

Love your hair the way you had it done today. I always had thick wavy/curly hair and fortunately back then long straight hair was never the fashion. Girls and women had perms if they had straight hair so thus they too had curls. I now wear my hair short and MOH and I both go to the same hairdresser. She manages to find his hair OK and seems to have a knack of keeping mine looking reasonably tidy. Keep that style, it really suits you. xx
