The bed throwing incident

My kids love to bounce - off walls mostly, but they really love to use their beds as trampolines and jump, jump and jump. They are not allowed to do this for obvious reasons..beds are expensive these days, and there's the chance they could hurt themselves....

So Miss T jumped a bit too much on her bed recently and broke it. They all have single ensembles which have the top mattress on top of the bottom mattress which is on wheels. She broke all the wood on the bottom section so her top mattress just sagged in the middle.

The Hubbster did the right thing and took two hours to repair it with strict instructions and warnings not to jump on the beds again. You know what happens next, don't you?

The kids were relaxing (trashing) the bedroom today, and we hear a loud crunch. The conversation went like this:-

Miss D: Uh oh, mum, dad, Miss T has broken her bed..again

The Hubbster: if she's broken her bed I'm throwing it down the paddock (family injoke, alot of things around here get thrown down the paddock, we have 75 acres so we have the room)

The Hubbster thus goes into the bedroom and carries out the bottom, now broken section of Miss T's bed, followed by the howling girl in question and he then proceeds to wildly throwthebeddownthepaddock.

I wish I had taken a photo of thus bed with a now broken wheel but the mood wasn't good. It may have looked something like this -

an arty shot of a bed in the middle of the country looking very romantic. Instead ours looked like a kids broken bed surrounded by long grass, trees and a wire fence.

I convinced The Hubbster to help retrieve the bed, and now it sits proudly in my already overcrowded loungeroom.

Miss T will now be sleeping on her mattress on the floor for a week, while she learns how to appreciate her things and not wreck and destroy anything else.

Just wanted to add that the little devil (Miss T) just said to me:- Mumma, I don't want that bit of the bed anymore, I just want the mattress on the floor. Grrrrr.

Sorry, had to laugh about the comment concerning not wanting the bed anymore. Um, okay fine, sleep on the floor! You know after awhile she will change her mind and want her bed back. Ah, kids! Hang in there. They grow up and may have kids of their own someday. Now that is the ultimate satisfaction. hee hee

That's classic! I know I am going to have that problem with my oldest becuz being the smart mom that I am with my first born I taught him to jump in his crib! YEP that's right, so by the time I get around to making his crib into a toddler bed he will need a new mattress! GREAT! haha

Oh that stinker! I hate when my kids make the punishment pointless.

it must be some miracle of God that Aidan hasn't managed to break a bed yet.
so I've got to ask, what IS a paddock?

Don't they just get you every time?
Every time you think you have a solution, they find one to it!
