These photos kind of show the layout of the floor plan and the size of the house, without the verandahs. All up, it's 550 sq m so it's big. As I said before, we wouldn't have built a house this size, but it was already started so we are going with what is there.

We ate the guinea fowl eggs! and survived
What is it you say???? Well it has something to do with these....
Our guineas are laying eggs and I wasn't sure if I wanted to eat these eggs.....I kinda thought it was like eating your own grandchildren..... But then, how different could guinea eggs be from regular chicken eggs.
So we had bacon and eggs for breakfast this morning, and I thought, just do it, be brave, have a go, don't look back yadda yadda yadda.
I fried up 5 chicken eggs and 4 guinea eggs - the shell was alot harder to crack on the guinea eggs, and the yolk is alot smaller, but they held together really well in the pan. And they were DELICIOUS! In fact, we couldn't tell the difference in taste between the chicken and the guinea eggs.
It was all in my mind, the thought of not wanting to eat them. But I have now conquered this fear and will log on to the poultry one and guinea fowl forums to brag about my bravery...

Blog Fart Friday
* The guineas are still acting all crazy and laying eggs here and there and disappearing into the long grass to do God knows what...I now have two more eggs layed in the corner of their cage, and I don't know whether to leave them there and hope someone gets broody and sits their butt on top, or pick them up and put them in our fridge. I'll get a photo tommorrow to prove I'm not delirious..
* Tommorrow Mr T has his last football game for the year, and praise the time gods, it starts at 9.30am not unlike every other single Saturday when we were getting 8am games. The kids will probably still wake up at 6am.
* Miss D (aged 8) is having a weekend sleepover at her nannys house. I miss her already, but I am hoping she doesn't come home with a bad attitude and something we like to call Nannyitis...
* I am so tired and have been tired all week. I have been trying to get to bed early but I am such a nightowl and can't bring myself to retire before 10pm. I have been exercising and getting up early because the builders arrive at 7am, so I really need to get my butt to bed at a reasonable hour (looking at the clock it's 9.49pm, WTF)
* We are going to a fancy dress birthday party in December and the theme is something beginning with the letter "P". I am trying to convince The Hubbster to go as Peter Pan, or a Porn Star *snigger* and I myself am deciding between, a Pink Lady (from Grease) a Pregnant Person, a Playboy Bunny (yeah right) or (my favourite) a Patient. I would dress in a white gown, bandage myself up and arrive pushing a drip on a stand...I'm not sure where to get one of these from, but I do know a few nurses.....
Then again I could go as a Pole Dancer, or a Prostitute (oh we already have one of those) or Paris Hilton, which in essence is the same thing...
Or I could just go in my pyjamas and get really drunk and feel really comfortable....

Some Awards for Little Old Me!!
1) The rules for this Awe-Summm award are to reveal 7 awe-summm things about themselves and then bestow the award on 7 other Awe-Summm bloggers!1. I am honest. I once handed back 5 cents to a homeless man after he had dropped it. He was dirty and smelly but he said in a polite well educated voice "thank you ma'am". I thought about that alot. If I get overcharged in a shop I always tell the cashier, it's just the right thing to do.
2. I am a good friend. I always have a shoulder for my friends to cry on, and an ear to listen. Even though I don't see some friends as often as I like, I love that we can reconnect easily. I love that my friends hug me when we meet.
3. I am very compassionate towards people, and I particularly feel sympathy for homeless people. Who knows what kind of life they had and what brought them to this stage in their lives.
4. I am very happy in my own company. I prefer to go to the movies alone, something which my friends find amusing. I travelled to America by myself and was so proud of this accomplishment.
5. I have a great sense of humour, a definate dry wit, something I inherited from my dad. I do good sarcasm, and crave things that make me laugh.
6. I am a fabulous mother and a calm, patient and caring wife (see number 5 above regarding sarcasm) (this is really hard because I don't like writing these things about me, can I really be this fabulous?) and my children adore me. My husband and I have been together for 22 years so he's not sick of me yet.
7. If I set my mind to something, I achieve it. Whether it is travelling overseas, bungee jumping or raising healthy, happy yet noisy children - I do it and I do it well.

Our first guinea egg!
Here is the difference between the egg sizes with the guinea egg on the left and a chicken egg on the right.
So this means the guineas are in their laying season - Spring, and most probably have nests all over the place with abundant eggs in place. I have searched for the nests but I can't find any because they have a habit of wandering into the really long grass, so it's impossible to find them.
I reckon the egg came from this guinea, as you can tell she's looking a bit guilty....
So instead of logging onto facebook and other similiar applications, I have been searching the forums at Guinea Fowl International and Poultry One (something that The Hubbster finds amusing) to find out what to do next. I am really hoping that someone goes broody and sits their butt on the eggs and brings me back some goddamn babies (which are called keets, by the way). Then I will be a grandmother...
