2012 - you gotta see it!

I have a new favourite movie...well a second favourite movie because my all time favourite is still this one:

So I took myself along to see 2012 last week, but maybe I shouldn't have because The Hubbster (he of the wish he could review movies but can't) said to me in a somewhat bogan voice:-

:- awwww, that movie sucks (he hasn't seen it but seems to know ALOT about it)
:- the special effects suck
:- what a waste of money

So I did as any good wife would do and ignored him and went along to see this sucky movie and guess what? It freakin' rocked my world!!!

I LOVED IT, so much so that I could easily go and watch it again tonight. I love a good disaster movie..I am, of course a buff of movies, or a movie buff, or whatever and the disaster genre is right up my alley.

Give me The Poseidon Adventure, or The Day After Tommorrow or even Independence Day, which are all blockbusters but God I love them all!

So I have been waiting for months for this movie, 2012, because of the subject matter, but also because it stars the delicious John Cusack. I'm a big fan. I've loved him ever since our first dalliance in The Sure Thing...

Back to the movie, and did it rock! 2012 has enough cheese to make two super supreme pizzas and enough special effects to send any teenage boy into a cyber meltdown. But, isn't that what any good disaster flick yearns for....the ability to be totally inplausable but grossly entertaining at the same time.

The lead characters find themselves in numerous scrapes, but "miraculously" get out of them just as quickly. But I was literally on the edge of my seat, knees shaking because it was all so exciting. The special effects were truly amazing....

And I totally, TOTALLY loved the fact that the captain of one of the "Arcs" that was built to save mankind, and who was calm and unstressed during the most stressful of events, somehow reminded me, by his demeanour and stance, of this little fella from the film Madagascar....

Here's The Skipper, who could be a dead ringer for Captain Michaels from 2012. And since I couldn't find a pic of the elusive Captain Michaels, you will just have to see the film to truly appreciate the amazing resemblance...

I had heard from my students that 2012 is worth going to see. You've just now confirmed that for me. I'm gonna have to check it out over the Thanksgiving break. Thanks!
