BlogHer'12

If you are a blogger, you may have heard of a little get together held last week.

Called BlogHer'12, more than 5000 bloggers attended with a very special address from President Barack Obama himself!

Yes, this conference is bigtime.

Close to 20 Australian bloggers attended, and during the last week or so, I've lived my New York Dream through their words and photos.

A life changing experience for them?  It seems so.

That's what is so wonderful about blogging.  The writer gets to share their words and relive their moments in time and the reader gets to experience it, even from afar.

Everyone wins.

I had this crazy thought yesterday that I'd really love to attend next years BlogHer conference in Chicago, USA.

Could I really do it?  Save the money, leave my family for 2 weeks, and combine my two passions of travel and blogging?

Hell yes!

My friends know that my obsession is America.  Here's some photos of the holiday that changed my life.

Digital Parents Conference 2012 - A Debrief

I'm home from the Big Smoke that is Melbourne and I had a fantastic time at DPCON12.

I was really looking forward to seeing some old friends, and making new ones, but of course the time goes so fast, one can never get around to meeting all of the bloggers in attendance.

I learnt some new things and I'm looking forward to making some changes on my blog in the coming weeks.

My trip began early on Thursday morning before we had even left, when The Hubbster drove the car over the top of my luggage.

While I flapped my arms around and screamed OMG OMG OMG OMG, he roared with laughter and suggested I take a photo, because, after all, I was going to a blogging conference.

He said "where's your bag?" to which I replied "Under the front wheels of the car"...

I can't believe I took this bag all the way to America and now I can't even get it past the front gate without destroying it!

When I finally arrived in Melbourne, I was so happy to see Naomi from Seven Cherubs who is my wonderfully patient roommate, and I must thank her for coping with my messiness and my lateness.

We did dinner and pre conference drinks and I even found this "special" on the menu at a restaurant!

I caught up with Carly from Tune into Radio Carly and I was so happy to see her!

Kristy from The Imperfect Mum from  is my new girl crush!  She is gorgeous, funny and intelligent.  She's even been on the cover of a magazine !  I knew I should have asked her for her autograph!

And the lovely Bernie from The Bernie Brand. Seriously my new BFF. Seriously!

I was so thrilled to be chosen to read this blog post on Motherhood, during dinner...

And for my quote and photo to appear on the big screen.

Of course I totally fell in love with the photo booth at the dinner dance.

Just look!

My Intervention

I've recently noticed that a couple of bloggers have posted about their blogging taking them away from the other things they have to do in their lives. I am finding this as well.

I have a crazy To Do list that...well...frankly is not getting done. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a To Do list, doesn't it??

So I'm going to do a two part intevention.

My first issue I have a grievance with is that I find I am not visiting the blogs I follow....I follow *ahem* around 160 blogs, but dammit, you guys rock and I just can't help myself so there.

So I have decided not to post for the rest of the week, and the time I use for blogging I shall instead be visiting your blogs and reading and commenting and stalking. So be prepared for Farmers Wifey to comeavisiting and remember I love an Irish Breakfast with no sugar or milk.

The second thing I am going to do is to post my To Do list on my blog for the month of November, and see exactly what I can get done.

I'll cross things off as I go, and I appreciate that there will be things I just won't get to, like stripping and staining the old antique dresser I have, or learning to play Brown Eyed Girl on my guitar so The Hubbster can actually identify it...but I am going to give it all my best shot.

I find at times I need a good kick in the motivation rear as I can be quite lazy at times, and would much prefer to be watching reruns of Supernatural than cleaning out the fridge.

You get my point.

Perhaps if I post my To Do list on my blog, I shall be shamed into admitting that I am not the best at time management.

Remember, there are some dodgy things on my list that may not make alot of sense to you, but to me, they are little things that I just can't get to.

I'm actually quite excited by this two part revelation.

It doesn't mean I won't be twittering though..which I find quite addictive.

Great news today

Miss D and I survived Eisteddfod Groups Day today....it was a huge success. Shall post photos soon, but a quick rundown of results are:

Ballet - 1st place

Contempory - 1st place

National = 1st place

Jazz - 2nd place and

Cabaret - 1st place..............am I proud much?? You bet!!!!

Today I have some exciting news. The Aussie Bloggers Conference is happening....It is the first ever blogging conference focusing on the mum, parenting and personal blogging communities of Australia!

Of course I am going....I have airfares to book, accomodation to book, my conference ticket to organise and I have to tell my husband!!

Actually The Hubbster knows I am going (March 2011) so I have given him enough time to get used to the idea of feeding and clothing the kids for a weekend while I'm away!

I am very excited and I am looking forward to meeting these amazing women who share my passion for blogging......did I mention the dinner and dance (and alcohol) after the conference and the view of Sydney Harbour from my hotel room??

Am I excited much?
