Random oh Random Post

I really need to do a random post as I have so much to say....I'd suggest you go find a friend to read with you as this will be such an awesome post. I guarantee it!

It will be a mishmash of all the "things" shooting around in my head at the moment..

The Hubbster gave his permission (after a bit of arm twisting and bribery from moi) to share this photo of him and his broken sunglasses - care of either Miss D, Mr C or Miss T, or maybe all three of them conspiring to piss The Hubbster off....

I was trying to figure out why we have no socks around the place..especially on Monday mornings when I am running late for work. I did a scout around yesterday and looked into a few nooks and crannies (and behind and under lounge chairs and in the car) and guess what I found:-

Yes, this badass pile of socks (25 in all) and they probably don't even freakin' match.

I'm going to ZUMBA tommorrow with a friend. If you haven't heard of Zumba, you have obviously been living under a rock, or have no access to television telemarketing.

I've heard that Zumba is a fun, easy way to get fit and meet friends. With my dance background I shouldn't find it too difficult. Maybe I'll stand in the back row just to be sure...

Apparently, after a month of doing Zumba, I should look like this.

If I don't look like this, I'll be getting a full refund and sitting my butt and rock hard abs (not) back on the goddam couch.

We had a great day on Sunday at the Multicultural Festival, where Miss D danced her National Romanian group dance on stage. She looked divine and I was so proud of her. And her smile.

I saw a mum and dad with a toddler and brand new triplets..two little boys in a double pram and a little girl in mummys sling. I had a pang of jeolousy..and sadness...then an "I wish it was me moment" before melting at the sight of these gorgeous babes...

We met up with 2 other mums and all of our kids had fun on the rides including the dodgem cars, various jumping castles and the rock climbing wall where my kids kicked ass....

I was so happy, because my three kids were happy. They relished in spending time with their friends, and it was sunny and warm and we were together and life was good.

Life IS good.

BUT if my kids don't get out of bed at a reasonable time in the mornings, and help get organised for school, I swear to God I will hose them. I even bought a water spray bottle today that I am going to spray them with tommorrow if they won't get up. This should make a little less mess than bringing the hose in.

The Hubbster and I visited the bathroom supply shop the other day and decided on our bathroom fitouts for The Money Pit.

Our vanitys will be to the floor and I really like this style of basin, that sits on top of the vanity. What do you think?

I still think about my lost little one. Every day. I water his (her) plant and say hello..which is fine because I also talk to my guinea fowl and my chickens, so what's a plant matter?

I bought some new nail polish the other day. It's sort of this colour.

I've never bought anything like this colour before and can't wait to paint my nails. I also bought 10 cakes of soap for $4.95. Bargain.

I've decided to wear my bling instead of hiding it away. I'm always scared of losing my jewellery so I don't wear it. But I'm going to go out looking shiny and expensive.

I walked past two mums at the school gate the other day discussing morning sickness remedies and birthing information, and I twinged a bit. I looked straight ahead and walked on thinking "take it somewhere else will ya".

My blog. My bitch.

Mr C (aged 7) got in the car the other day all distressed and exclaimed:-

"we can't go anywhere yet, I have no technology!!!!!!!!!!!!!" meaning ipod or dsi game.

I love him.

Random

I have a lot to get through so stay with me people. I have a busy couple of days coming up so I'm doing one big post here to keep you guys going for a while..I'll probably be back around Wednesday.

I've just realised that I missed my one year blogging anniversary and now feel like a fraud. Shouldn't I do a spiffy giveaway or have a big post about me me me? I totally forgot about it, but you can congratulate me if you want! And I can say thankyou for being part of the Farmers Wife universe and for making me feel really special...xx

First up, my husband found this little fella while out mowing the grass yesterday:-

"I am a Burtons legless lizard. I am not a snake. See the shape of my snout is pointy like a pencil, that is how you tell I'm not a snake. I am harmless so please don't hurt me."

Repeat after me people "This is a legless lizard, this is not a snake. There is a difference". We let him go back in the grass to enjoy the rest of his day.

I love a good bargain. It makes me happy when I find one. I should have made this number 11 on my Happy list recently. Yesterday we were out shopping and I wanted to buy Mr C some trading cards. He really wanted some Yu-Gi-Oh cards but at $20.00 a pack I said "keep walking buddy".

We went across to another shop and found this absolute gem- a discontinued tin with several packs of Ben 10 cards for $2.00, and another pack of Ben 10 Alien Force cards reduced to $2.00. So for the grand total price of $4.00 we bought all of this:-

Mr C is impressed and extremely happy because he is obsessed with Ben 10. So for $4.00 everyone's happy.

I am looking forward to pancaking a tutu this week. I shall post pics to show you exactly how it's done. The dance festival is in two weeks and Miss D is very excited and I am very nervous as she is doing her first two solos in classical ballet and jazz. I can't wait to watch all the girls dancing, it is really very exciting!

The kids had the dress up box out this morning as it's still pissing rain (aussie term for enough already), and of course Mr C dressed up as Ironman, as he is into Marvel comics at the moment. He's such a boy! Anyway, I had to dress up as the bad guy, and I'm getting a bit offended at always having to play the bad guy.

me:- "Why do I always have to be the bad guy? I want to be the good guy".

Mr C:- "No mum, you HAVE to be the bad guy. Your'e the mother."

I just put on my mask and shut up.

Life goes on

So life goes on. We had a good day today, in town for shopping and fish and chips with the kids for lunch. Then back home to a beagleless shed. I put Totos photo and info on the local council website for lost dogs, and I can hardly even look at it. I've also had alot of friends thinking of me and that helps alot.

We have ballet practice tommorrow, so it's back into town again. I'm also trying to find the bottom of the washing basket but just can't seem to find it. Is it exciting, does anyone know, or will it always be a mystery???

A day to remember

It has been a strange day today. Good and not so good things have happened so I want to address my day in point form, because it's easier to digest.

- we woke up late and subsequently were nearly late for school, but as this is the last day of school before holidays, I don't particularly care.

- bought some groceries and threw them in the car on the way to the doctor to check on Miss T's atrocious cough.

- waited at the doctors for ONE HOUR before we went in. What the hell is the point of making an appointment when you never get in on time? I mean, how do they fall so far behind FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.

- saw 7 kangaroos in the paddock. What a treat!

- visited our draftsman about our plans, ready for a fight and hoo haa they are nearly finished and we are to collect them on Wednesday! With our account! That we probably won't want to look at, but who cares, if our house plans are in my hot little hands I will dance a samba. Then the serious stuff will start...

- home for lunch, dvd and lie down (me) then back to school, grabbed kids, deposited two kids at Poppys while I took Miss D to Jazz. Open week this week so I stayed and watched. Great stuff Miss D, you rock!

- collected the kids from Poppys and drove home. On the outskirts of town, the temperature in our four wheel drive skyrocketed so I stopped in the dark and the rain. With 3 tired, hungry and irritable kids. The hubbster was at work, so we rang Nanny who came out, we drove her back into town and then drove BACK home in her car, arriving after 7pm.

Even though we live in our shed, I was so glad to get home. And guzzle a wine...

- got to bed around 10pm, and woke around 3am with sharp stomach pains and a need to get to the bathroom. Through the rain (as the bathroom is about 10 steps from the shed) I ran in and threw up the contents of my chicken dinner. Just to remind me that I left the groceries in the car, while we waited to see the doctor. Big Mistake. Food poisoning is so overrated.

- got back to bed and Miss D started her nightly coughing, so I was back up getting medicine for her, hoping like hell the other two kids didn't wake up.

It was a day of mixed blessings, as Miss T didn't need any hard stuff for her cough, and I just need to explain to anyone waiting in line at the supermarket who cringe when she coughs that "no she doesn't have swine flu, so you don't need to move away, she just has a cough".

And I must say that the hunky doctor is still hunky and not once did I imagine what he would look like soaking wet emerging from a pool, with his hair slicked back. Nope. Not once....

Customer service

The scene is in our local music shop, part of a well known group.

me: excuse me, do you have "The Definitive Series" by The Easybeats?

her: umm who?

me: The Easybeats "The Definitive Series"

her: I don't know who they are

me: (looks at her as if she's from another planet)
me: are you kidding me?

her: I've never heard of them

me: The Easybeats the greatest Australian rock and roll band of the 1960s?

me: you work in a music shop and you have NEVER heard of them?

her: well, they are a long way before my time

me: honey, thats beside the point. You need to get another job.

This was a perfect example of one of my pet hates, sucky customer service. How can someone working in a music shop not know of The Easybeats? Didn't she have any training?

Bad customer service irritates me. I've had my share:-

1) I hate when I walk to the shop counter and the assistant (once she finishes her telephone call) looks up and says "Are you right?" WTF am I standing here for, you fucking moron. I really hate those three words.

2) People trying to sell me faulty products. A sales assistant once tried to sell me a digital camera. With a cracked screen. For full price. He didn't get the sale.

3) Sales assistants who barely look up when asked a question. It's as if I am ruining their already mundane day by asking if they have Dora the Explorer pyjamas in size 6.

Don't get me wrong, there is great customer service too. We have the best newsagent here where I live. Everytime I walk in, the staff make such a fuss over me and my kids that it's a pleasure to go newpaper shopping. They fawn over my daughter, she runs to them to show off her hair and it's all good. And the fish and chip shop is awesome too. Besides making great food, they are always friendly, even on a Friday night when the stress levels peak. That's called being professional. That's great customer service...
