Rain Rain please come

We had this amazing storm roll in this afternoon. It has been so hot here and the Gods have been teasing us every day, with the promise of rain, but alas the downpour doesn't come.

We desperately need rain. It is so dry out here, the tanks are nearly empty, and The Hubbster is continually topping up the pool with bore water. The days are hot, dry and dusty, and by the end of it I am tired, grumpy and I usually have a headache.

It rained today, and it was beautiful. Keep it coming rain Gods....

This always happens to us.

So what's worse than getting a flat tyre???

Getting two flat tyres. Yep, this happened to us today. This kind of thing always happens to us.

We woke this morning to the first one, so The Hubbster changed the flat which had picked up a nail from the house site, we think. We drove the kids to school and dropped the tyre off at the shop to be fixed and collected tommorrow.

We then went into town to do some shopping, and The Hubbster dropped me at the mall, and was to call back in 15 minutes. He was late. I was swearing in the heat. Where oh where was he??

Ten minutes later, Miss T and my man arrived on foot. They had walked 10 minutes in the heat of the day, from where they stopped with the second of the flat tyres for the day. We then walked back in the heat to the car, and rang his mum who collected us all.

Then we took the second tyre to another shop, and waited around for an hour for it to be fixed. As I said before, this always happens to us. Our quick trip into town turned into a marathon.

Kind of reminds me of the time I ran out of petrol AND locked my keys in the car at the same time. And that's a bloody true story....

I'm BACK

I'm a bad blogger. It's been over a week since I wrote, because I'm tired. So tired from working my new job. Essentially it's because I'm lazy. And now that I'm working, it's knocking the wind out of me because I'm tired. And lazy. I actually went to bed at 8.20pm last night, which even surprised me, as I am such a night owl.

I'll get into a routine. I suppose it's the time of year too, Christmas and birthdays and the crazy silly season. I have so much to do, I have a big list called "My To Do List" that I am trying to break down as I write.

But I must say that I am enjoying using that part of my brain, hidden away for the last 9 years in mother oblivion. I actually didn't even think of my kids from 10am to 2pm one day last week, because I was so engrossed in my work (sorry kids, mummy loves you). I am only working part time, and I totally take my many hats off to full time working mothers and appreciate what they are doing, because I couldn't do it.

So what else has been happening?? The baby guineas are growing fast and are nearly ready to be let out of the cage and free range with the others. And we have another missing guinea, so new babies are expected any day. We will literally have guinea fowl coming out our arses (or asses for my Americian friends). The Hubbster wants to sell the new babies, that we expect to arrive any day (and if they don't, we will say bye bye to the guinea that's been eaten by a snake/fox/hawk).

Of course, I want to keep the babies, and just have a big flock of guinea fowl on our farm. It's crazy here anyway, so whats ten more.

Toto our beagle turned 15 on Saturday. Happy birthday little one!

The kids are good. Swimming twice a day, which is great because it's so hot here, and the rain JUST WON'T COME. Damn those rain Gods, we need the rain. We topped up our tanks with bore water last week, so I'd really appreciate a cuppa tea without drinking the sludge in the bottom. Seriously.

The house is coming along fine. I have a draft with pics ready to post, and will do that hopefully tommorrow, when our internet hours are restored and I have some more energy. Don't give up on me, I will get to your fabulous blogs this week, I promise. Tired and lazy. That's me. Muah!

2012 - you gotta see it!

I have a new favourite movie...well a second favourite movie because my all time favourite is still this one:

So I took myself along to see 2012 last week, but maybe I shouldn't have because The Hubbster (he of the wish he could review movies but can't) said to me in a somewhat bogan voice:-

:- awwww, that movie sucks (he hasn't seen it but seems to know ALOT about it)
:- the special effects suck
:- what a waste of money

So I did as any good wife would do and ignored him and went along to see this sucky movie and guess what? It freakin' rocked my world!!!

I LOVED IT, so much so that I could easily go and watch it again tonight. I love a good disaster movie..I am, of course a buff of movies, or a movie buff, or whatever and the disaster genre is right up my alley.

Give me The Poseidon Adventure, or The Day After Tommorrow or even Independence Day, which are all blockbusters but God I love them all!

So I have been waiting for months for this movie, 2012, because of the subject matter, but also because it stars the delicious John Cusack. I'm a big fan. I've loved him ever since our first dalliance in The Sure Thing...

Back to the movie, and did it rock! 2012 has enough cheese to make two super supreme pizzas and enough special effects to send any teenage boy into a cyber meltdown. But, isn't that what any good disaster flick yearns for....the ability to be totally inplausable but grossly entertaining at the same time.

The lead characters find themselves in numerous scrapes, but "miraculously" get out of them just as quickly. But I was literally on the edge of my seat, knees shaking because it was all so exciting. The special effects were truly amazing....

And I totally, TOTALLY loved the fact that the captain of one of the "Arcs" that was built to save mankind, and who was calm and unstressed during the most stressful of events, somehow reminded me, by his demeanour and stance, of this little fella from the film Madagascar....

Here's The Skipper, who could be a dead ringer for Captain Michaels from 2012. And since I couldn't find a pic of the elusive Captain Michaels, you will just have to see the film to truly appreciate the amazing resemblance...

Officially a Working Mother...and getting paid for it!

Wow, it's been one week since I wrote, but I have good reason.

I am officially a Working Mother! Well, I have always been a working mother, but now I'm getting paid for it!

I have been thinking about getting part time work, once Miss T goes to school full time next year. But this opportunity just fell into my lap, and I can't let it go.

I am back in my previous career, which surprises me because I always said I wanted to have a change. But good working conditions, job flexibilty, and being only 2 minutes away from the school has swayed me.

I was offered this position last Friday, and I started work two days ago. I worked Monday and Tuesday, and today is my day off! And I am appreciating that! Miss T and I went shopping, made muffins, coloured in and watched Cinderella.

I am working part time, school hours, two or three days a week. It's very flexible. I can still do the school drop off and pick up, have a couple of days off during the week, work in an air conditioned office and spend some time out in the field. It's a quiet country office, and I already know the two ladies who work there. Can it get any better?

My job can be stressful, but I am a different person now, to when I worked before the kids came along. The environment, and workload will be different, and I have a good attitude and enthusiastic approach to helping people. (This sounds like a job application letter, and to those people who didn't bother returning my calls about work I enquired about, suck it up! You missed me!)
