Gimme back my fitball

Seriously?

No wonder I'm getting fat.

My son thinks my fitball would make a perfect Death Star.

As if I'm going to sit on that and risk a nasty Lego/Bum injury.

Let's get this year rockin!

A pinch and a punch for the first day of the month (year).....

We started our day with two hours of sitting by the car, waiting for a green tree snake (we think) to move from his hiding space in the car engine.

He didn't move.

He liked the vibrations of the car engine when we turned it on, and even when poked (gently) with a stick to get some action, he went to sleep.

I'm hoping he comes out tonight to hunt and leaves my car alone.

I'm hoping..........

We then enjoyed brunch of eggs, and smokey ham and toast and mushrooms (them not me).

The kids had a swim and it was a nice eventful day.

So back to the snake. We think it is the same one I nearly stepped on, while walking through the shed on Christmas Day.

I didn't blog about that, lest scaring my overseas readers from ever visiting our dangerous Australia!

We also think this snake skin is his!

He's obviously happy in his fancy new skin.

In my car engine.

GET OUT!

I can't believe the kids go back to school in just over 3 weeks! Where has the time gone?

Christmas done. New Year done.

Book lists not done as yet.

But I do have my new calendar ready to be updated.

I love this. It's the only thing that keeps my year organised.

It has spaces for The Hubbster and I, and the 3 kids. I write EVERYTHING there, and it helps me stay on top of things.

The Hubbster and I weighed ourselves this morning, ready for our health and fitness challenge.

As of today I weigh 71.7 kilos. The Hubbster weighed in with his boots on, so I scolded him and he'll check in again tommorrow.

I plan to update every Sunday, as I did with the Battle of the Blogger Butts last year.

And I am very determined!

2011 - A reflection

I can't believe the new year begins tommorrow.

2011 has gone so fast...I think as I get older the days and weeks go faster.

Which is kind of sad......

The kids go back to school in 3 weeks, didn't we just have Christmas?

I do love the end of the year, in some ways though.....it's a time of clearing out the fluff of the past year, of tying up loose ends neatly, and starting afresh in the new year.

I can remember feeling this way, this time last year.

I had alot of things I wanted to achieve..and unfortunately I am still seeking them.

We hoped we would be living in our house, we are closer, yes, but still have a little more to do.

And I remember posting about wanting to get back into health and fitness, which I did for one week until I seriously hurt my back.

These two goals are still very important to me....and beginning tommorrow I plan to focus on the fitness goal.

I have the Digital Parents Conference in Melbourne in March, and I want to be looking and feeling my best then. What a fantastic goal to strive towards.

It's so strange that I posted the exact same thing, last year, but the thing that gives me motivation is remembering how I looked and felt before we moved to the Farm and I was a total gym junkie......I loved it.

We have a gym opening right next door to my office, in January or February and I am so excited. One of the reasons why I stopped working out, was because we live out of town and I have to travel half an hour to get anywhere with a gym.

On my days off, I don't want to drive into town, and when I hurt my back, that basically stopped all exercise. So I haven't had a very good year in that respect.

But I know that I want to get fit again, lose some weight and strengthen my core muscles to support my back - if I don't do this, surgery may not be a choice but a definite.

And I don't want to go.....there......

So here's to a great 2012...with your dreams and mine coming true ♥ Thank you for supporting my little blog this year, I love every one of you.....

To finish my last post of 2011, in true Farmers Wifey fashion, I'll share some of my tweets.

I hope they make you smile ♥

Made the ultimate mummy sacrifice and took my daughter to the school disco instead of watching Greys Anatomy..oh the humanity...

Just vacumned the shed.

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.....(don't look at me, I have no idea what this means?)

Had 4 baby guinea fowl escape from Alcatraz this morning, dug out of the cage. I'm calling one Clint Eastwood.

Post about cows. Only on Farmers Wifey.

Just looking at a picture of Brian McFadden pisses me off.

Gaga is a poor man's Madonna.

No bread here. I knew I should have asked for a breadmaker for Christmas.

I got a speeding ticket while 9 months pregnant and getting pizza.

Everytime I mention Justin Bieber my 5 year old blushes.

Santa underestimated the amount of wrapping paper needed and is compensating with computer paper.

We had a little spider and a frog in the shower, and my five yr old says wow we have wild animals in there.

Just bleached the kitchen.

I want my house finished so I can move out of the GODDAMN shed!

Goodness shoulder pads are in everyones closets. I'll send some of my mega 80's ones..

Just had a quite word to the post office lady, STOP BENDING MY FUCKING MAIL AND STUFFING IT IN THE POSTBOX. Now I have a bent calendar.

AHHHHHHHHH blardy husbands.

Holy crap.

Say effing what?

Gotta finish the housework so I can watch Dr Phil.

Impressed that son was dressed and ready for school at 6.30 am until I realised he's slept in his clothes.

Does wine help a sore throat?

I emptied the bins at work yesterday therefore I am the office bitch.

Over two years living in our shed while we build the house. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Just told my daughter not to cry over spilt milk. I'll just cry over my freshly washed tablecloth.

I hate this working two days in a row crap. I like being lazy at home.

Wish I had Nanny McPhees stick.

Came to work today for a rest.

Cried at a kids movie, daughter just rolled her eyes at me.

Why do I stay up late and drink wine when I'm so tired and should go to bed?

My 7 year old son just said to me "I need a moment" WTF?

I'm a slave to social media.

Made cupcakes with the kids, and now having a Mersyndol for the headache.

Just went walking with a friend in the rain and the mud..now my shoes are on the clothesline and I'm eating a muffin.

Happy New Year!

Battle of the Blogger Butts

For the last month or so I've been thinking about fitness - or my lack thereof - and pondering what to do about it.

You see, when I was pregnant in the middle of last year, I put some weight on..and I haven't lost that weight. And I"ve not been too worried about it - until now.

I think being a busy blogger has added to my blogger butt blowout - I could possibly even have a butt imprint on my couch. Oh the shame.....

Three years ago I hit the gym in a big way. I lost alot of weight, I looked and felt fantastic, I felt happy and I felt strong.

In fact, I'd never felt or looked better. We moved to the farm, away from the gym and I slowly stopped going.

I've had a couple of false starts along the way, but now I am ready to get serious! And I've been wondering how I could get that mindset back, as I struggle with motivation and need the support of others - and I need goals to help me achieve what I want to..

And now two things have happened. The first is the Aussie Bloggers Conference that I am attending in March. What a great goal to work towards..to lose weight and gain my fitness back to look trim and gorgeous! at the conference while meeting all of my new bloggy friends.

And the second thing has come in the form of my new friendship with Naomi from Seven Cherubs. We were chatting online the other day and as we have so much in common, we started talking about our weightloss and fitness goals and came up with the idea of a challenge.

Both Naomi and I love a bit of healthy competition so we have called it our:-

Battle of the Blogger Butts

We are challenging each other to lose 5 % of our body weight before the conference in 11 weeks. It's a realistic goal....and I am so happy and relieved that I have found a buddy to motivate and challenge me.

Naomi is truly amazing and I feel like I have known her forever. I can't wait to meet her in person at the conference where we both will be totally hot mamas!!!!

I've weighed myself today and my starting weight is 70.5 kg.

So my 5% goal is 66.9 kg. I am hoping to get down to 65 kg.

Naomi and I plan to share our journey with you, our challenge and our achievements.

Why not join in the fun..the more the merrier. Or in this case, the less is best!!!

And remember, we are looking at overall fitness and healthy eating - a lifestyle change for the better!

Lady of Leisure....for now.

My fitness plan has been going well. I have been walking everyday, and plan to do a spin bike class tommorrow at this new gym that's a bit closer, and a weights and treadmill session on Friday. I feel really fit, but the scales are not moving as quick as I would like them too. Maybe it's because I am eating a damn mini chocolate chip muffin from Brumbys Bakery as I type. (damn them to hell).

I have been good all week and was craving one of these, I mean I have to live don't I... There, I've talked myself into it so I'll keep eating it, and walk it off tommorrow.

Actually Miss T (aged 4) and I have a good routine happening at the moment. The weather is warm, so we drop the kids off at school and we walk up the hill to the shopping centre, where we collapse and drink our water. She brings her bubba along and she pushes the pram on the easy bits. I am determined to get bikini ready for summer (that's a figure of speech really because as I have said before, there is no way in hell I will ever wear a bikini again - maybe boardies and a bikini top if I'm lucky).

Then we drive home and do the washing, and clean up then have lunch and Miss T watches a dvd while I lay my butt on the couch and read my book. I am really enjoying this time with her because she is going to school next year and I will have to get a part time job. Which I am dreading because being out of the workforce for nearly 10 years has turned my brain to mush. I forget how to interact with adults without referring to kid related topics like vomiting, tantrums (them and me), school discos and how to get the girls to eat peas.

Hang on, getting a job may not be so bad after all.....

Blog Fart Friday.. um Sunday

I probably need to do another blog fart Friday, to fill you in on what's been happening, as I have lots of little tidbits that don't deserve their own post. But it's not Friday, it's Sunday so I'll do a blog fart Sunday which doesn't have the same ring to it, but that's all your'e gonna get so just enjoy!

* we have used up all of our internet hours, and we used them BY the 14th of the month, so I need to keep away from youtube as that's what is eating our hours. Now we are back to dial up, or by the condition of our internet, SLOWER than dialup, so I am ready to either pull my hair out strand by strand, stay off the computer or poke my eye out with a stick.. whatever comes first.

* we had a great weekend with Mr T's football and a ten pin bowling birthday party yesterday, a playdate today, a game of tennis with the kids this afternoon and Australian Idol tonight. A few glasses of wine and some sunshine has added to the happiness I feel!

* Miss D and I watched the movie Hairspray last night. I had seen it before but I wanted her to watch it as she is doing a jazz dance routine to one of the songs in the movie. I loved it just as much as the first time I saw it. I felt like dancing myself. And I gotta say, I am a married hetrosexual mum of three, but Queen Latifah singing Big, Blonde and Beautiful is smokin' hot...

* our builder was supposed to be starting on the house tommorrow, but he has to finish his current job so we are put back about a week. Which seems like a month because I have been waiting in anticipation for the 17th.....I have waited this long, one more week won't kill me.

* the weather is glorious here at the moment, unseasonally warm temperatures for August. What the hell will it be like during summer?? if this is what we are getting now.

* I went to the gym today and killed myself on the treadmill.

* I am determined to get my guitar out of its dusty storage this week, and start playing again. Or as The Hubbster would say, strangling the cat again.

Summer here I come!

Well it's August, it's hard to believe that winter is nearly over (thank God) and spring will be upon us. AND I CAN'T WAIT! I have basically been hiding away here on the farm, not doing alot, getting fat!, drinking too much wine and doing not enough exercise.

Today I went back to the gym. It's been 10 months since I was there last, but I am glad to be starting again. Last year I was a gym junkie, but that was when we lived only 5 minutes away. Now it's 1/2 hour drive and that is the reason I stopped going. But I miss it, I crave it, and I need it. I get good results and I feel healthier, happier, fitter and I look great!

Of course, I have put on my "winter coat" and I am annoyed with myself for ruining all my hard work from last year. But I'm pushing that to the back of my mind and getting on with it. I hope to go 2 or 3 times a week, as well as keep up my walking. I hate having to drive so far to get there, but if I don't, I will just sit in front of this computer and my butt will get even bigger!

When I was fully into working out last year, the song that inspired me and motivated me was Straight Lines, by Silverchair. I remember sweating it out on the treadmill listening to that song, and it always takes me back. Well guess what song came on the minute I started working out today?? Guess, go on! Yes THAT SONG, I take it as an omen to get moving, get fit, get toned all in time for summer. This is the time to do it, not leave it til one month before bikini season (farmerswife advises that there is no way in hell she will ever be wearing a bikini in public again).

I am also changing my eating habits. These include:-

* drink more water, less coke zero. Maybe only on weekends
* drink no wine during the week. Maybe only on weekends
* eat more nuts, almonds and walnuts
* eat more salads
*cook my chicken on my grill, rather in oil in the pan
* limit bread intake (I love bread but it makes me fat)
* eat cereal and fruit for breakfast instead of toast
*drink my protein shake in the afternoons during The Bold and the Beautiful, instead of my glass of wine. Crap, how the hell am I going to change this?

These are the things I did before and I lost weight, toned up and felt great. I can do it again. I find motivation in remembering how I felt and how I looked.
